Workshop on Electoral Reform:
ZESN will be holding a workshop on 30–31 July 2008 on Electoral conflict management and electoral reform in Zimbabwe: “Developing a framework for reform in Zimbabwe”. The workshop will seek to provide a platform for continued dialogue around the need for electoral reform in Zimbabwe, to capture the views of all stakeholders and to meaningfully contribute to the reform process. Pre-election Update No. 4 Nomination Court Update
ZESN continues to monitor the pre-election period ahead of the harmonized elections in March 2008 using long term observers deployed at constituency level throughout the country. The coverage of ZESN observers ahead of the election stands at 97% of all the constituencies. During the Nomination Court sitting on the 15th of February 2008 ZESN fielded observers in all venues of the nomination court sittings of the Presidential, Senate, Parliament and Local government candidates. .... : more |
Pre-election Update No. 3
ZESN continued to monitor the pre-election period ahead of the harmonized elections scheduled for 29 March 2008.
The major highlights of this period were the various proclamations and gazette notices pertaining to the election date, inspection of the voters roll, nomination court and delimitation of constituency and ward boundaries. President Mugabe announced that elections would go ahead on 29 March 2008.

Mobile Voter Registration Report 18 June 2007 To 17 August 2007
The Zimbabwe Election Support Network (ZESN) observed the mobile voter registration that ended on 17 August 2007. The exercise began on the 18 June 2007. ZESN deployed an observer in each of the country’s 62 administrative districts that were being used for the registration of voters. Having observed the entire mobile voter registration exercise, ZESN believes that the process was not exhaustive and it therefore should be extended in order to cater for those people who were unable to register as voters.

Supporting The 50 – 50 Campaign!!!
Following the re-enactment of the Electoral Act, 2004 and the enactment of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Act, 2004 and the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment Act, 2005, which together in varying degrees, implemented some of the proposals put forward by ZESN in 2003/2004, there are several outstanding aspects of the ZESN proposals which it continues to recommend.
